The 1 Month Program beginning 17th March 2012 is conducted over 6 mornings per week and 3 afternoon classes per week. Each class lasts approximately 3 hours. There will be limited numbers to guarantee personal attention, the combination of both traditional and non-traditional Vinyasa sequencing and the option of specific teacher training on the Vinyasa Krama practices.
The basis of this course is on Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga - I teach the Primary Series, the Intermediate Series and the Advanced Series in a traditional manner, step by step. Having said that, during the first week of the course all students are expected to learn and commit to memory the Moon Sequence, and subsequently practice it once per week, or more if there is need. For the last couple of days of the first week, and the following three weeks most students are expected to practice as much of the traditional Ashtanga Yoga as they have committed to memory - whatever is appropriate for each of you.
Ideally each student should have some experience of the traditional Ashtanga Yoga system, though this is not strictly necessary. As some students require alternative guidance, the optional sequencing will provide a broad scope for students of any level. Students committed to the traditional Ashtanga Yoga system will be supported to continue developing their practice of Primary, Intermediate and beyond.
The program will include led Vinyasa classes every weekend, 5 mornings of guided self practice per week, technique classes, Pranayama, Meditation and self development sessions. All of the self practice classes will be limited to 20 students (this is the maximum number for the 4 week attendance).
Students who are coming to their second and third course have the option, where appropriate, of learning the Lion Sequence and in some cases the Bound and Flying Sequences. These Sequences are detailed in the book Vinyasa Krama. Generally I require a commitment from each student to learn the Moon Sequence and doing so in self practice, before the Lion Sequence and others become appropriate.
The same guideline applies to Teacher Training. For students coming to their second or third course, the TT becomes an option. Go to Teacher Training Page.
All the best!
